What is man?

When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Psalm 8:3-4

Look Deeper

We are not like God. We look at outward appearances and then judge. God sees what is in the heart. This can sometimes make us fearful.

Here God instructs Samuel to choose David whose heart was good, instead of his handsome looking brothers.

But God looks at the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7

Nourishment

It’s hard to know who to trust in these uncertain times. We need to have our roots grounded in something secure.

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water. Jeremiah 12:7-8

Water

The water I give them will become in them a spring of water, welling up to eternal life. John 4:14

It is only in periods of drought that we realise how essential water is to sustain life. We can live longer without food than we can without food.

Why?

‘Why do all who are treacherous thrive? Jeremiah 12:1 Although this is an over statement, we have an innate sense of justice. It is an age-old question we have of God. All we know is that God is a just God.
