To know him

“That I may know Him.” Philippians 3:10

The work of every saint is to get to know Him more. Not ‘know ourselves more.’ This is an age when it is so important to be ‘happy.’ But we can never know anything approaching happiness until we get to know him more.

Knows My Name

The Good Shepherd calls His own sheep by name and leads them out. John 10:1

Fancy the Creator of everything knowing me by name. Yesterday I was out in my local town with dozens of other shoppers. At it happened (unusually) I didn’t meet anyone I knew. Not one of those dozens of people knew my name. But the Lord of All knows my name and leads and helps me. That’s so mind-blowing that I tend to minimize it in my mind.

‘Provoke.’

Let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works, not forsaking to assemble ourselves together. Hebrews 10:25

I love the idea of ‘provoking’ my friends to do good works. I know most versions say ‘spur on’, but I love the idea of ‘provoking.’

I’m sorry I’ve been off air for a while. Computer problems, but all solved now, so I can get on with my provoking.

A Team

Bear one another burdens and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2

Yes, but remember, no-one can do everything, but everyone can do something. There are jobs that God has given you to do, which only you can do. We work as a team.

All Equal

The King replies ‘Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matt 25:40

Because of God’s love for us we can love others, especially those who appear lesser in the eyes of the world. All are equal to God. The ground is level at the foot of the cross.

God’s Plans

For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

This was God’s message to the people of Israel when they were in exile in Babylon. His message to us today is just the same. He always has our best interests at heart; even if we are sometimes doubtful about it.

A New Day

Teach us to count our days that we may gain a wise heart. Psalm 90:12

Every morning when I write or type the date I realise that it is a day which has never been before and will never come again. I pray that I may use it wisely.

Peace

God comforts us in all our trouble, so that we can comfort those in any trouble, with the comfort we ourselves received from God. 2 Corinthians 1:4

This peace is something we need to pass on. It wasn’t given to us to keep; it is for others. We need to share it. The world is so much in need of peace at the moment.
