Prior to Scotland

To those of you who have emailed me, thankyou.

Tomorrow morning I set off for Scotland.  Yes, I know that’s only eight miles away, but I’m going a bit further than that.  Up to Carrbridge, visiting  Aviemore, Loch Ness, Inverness and travelling on a real steam train.  No, I won’t be skiing, monster searching or shopping.  Just sight-seeing, weather permitting.  I’ve been to many beautiful places, which have been obscured by bad weather.

Another report at the end of the week.

After the Keswick Convention

Now that the Keswick Convention is over and folk have returned home, just a few thoughts.  It was good to meet so many of you during the first week as I worked in the Reception Office.  You would have all heard more of the meetings than I was able to do, but I was able to get snippets of blessings.

I have received CD’s of the Bible Studies on Jonah and am waiting to receive those of the 3rd week Bible Studies with Peter Maiden.  Still trying to find time to listen to them.  Life soon crowds in when one returns home.

But watch this space in a year’s time.  Ihope to be at Keswick again and receive more of the blessings.

Although only seven people were present at our last meeting, we still had a profitable and fun time.  Profitable because we did some writing exercises during the afternoon and fun because we laughed a lot.  One member posed the question ‘When does a start, start?  Silly really.

This was the result of writing a piece with words containing only one syllable and therefore she couldn’t use the word ‘beginning’.  Maybe another time we could write pieces with words containing only multiple syllables!!

I hope we are now all preparing pieces of work entitled ‘The Fall’.  Funny, serious or devotional it should be an interesting time.

A Sunny Race for Life 2011

Last Sunday 10th it was ideal weather to run/jog/walk 5 km for the Race for Life.  Yes, you’ve guessed it, I was one of the walkers.  I thoroughly enjoyed it and after the 3 km mark it was easy going.  I wouldn’t have been so happy if it had been raining or with a strong cold wind.

Thank you to everyone who sponsored me.  But watch out, I might be doing it next year.

We had an enjoyable afternoon, reading the work we had done at home, completing an exercise (writing a piece using words of only one syllable, not as easy at it sounds) and making plans for the future.

The pieces we had written entitled ‘Myself’ produced deep theological work as well as amusing ones, poetry as well as prose.  This is Sheila Clarke’s contribution, one which is worthy of being reproduced here :-

Hello there.

May I introduce myself to you?

Not with a multitude of words, only a few.

My name is Sheila Clarke, to Carlisle

Christian Fellowship I go.

I worship Almighty God, whose loving

care in abundance I do know.

Through my Saviour, Jesus, I know the

full joy of all sins forgiven.

I am loved and accepted by God, am on

my way to his home in heaven.

I’m travelling on the journey of life,

which one day will end,

then eternity in heaven with the Lord

Jesus Christ I’ll spend.
