When one lives in the same area for over six decades, you build up a number of old friends. That’s what I’ve done.
I’m not sure what my friends in their 40’s will think about being ‘old friends’ but they will know what I mean. I’ve been down south for a week week to visit all these friends. The two who really helped me when the going was tough, the one who became a notable short story writer, partly through my introductions and a previous church friend.
I hadn’t seen any of these people for two years, so you can imagine how much talking we did. As they say, ‘no friends like old friends.’
